Toe Nibbler
Latin name: Rodo Digitus
Do not wear flip flops or other kind of open shoes when you know this species is around.
This species feeds itself by eating toes!...
How more they eat, the bigger they get,
because the swallowed toes grow on their bodies.
How do they multiply?
Toe Nibblers are hermaphrodites.
On the body of a big Toe Nibbler grows once in a while a small Nibbler in between the toes. When the head and the brain is fully grown, then the small Nibbler separates itself from the host body and crawls very slow away in its independent life...
Danger zones:
Beaches, forests, lakesides, public swimming pools, gyms, hospitals, elderly homes and schools.
Just before we set him free he had a good look around, if there was nothing to eat. He tried to nibble the shoe but after clapping the hands he panicked and ran away into the forest.
The Toe Nibbler on the left, we caught in a retirement home, where he was chasing old people for a good meal.
He was there just for a couple of months but fed himself very well. We estimated him around
3 years old.
For his age he is very big and heavy: 4.35 kilos for a 30 cm high Toe Nibbler. Most probably, after we set him free, he did not grow so fast anymore and lost maybe a kilo or so. Because in the wild he has to work much harder for his toes.
